Bio/Artist Statement:
The imagery in my art is narrative in scope, using familiar objects and forms, along with symbols and symbolism, both primitive and modern to tell a story that unfolds within a stage of open landscapes or twisted, silent street scenes. The inspiration is drawn both locally and from my extensive travels and personal relationship with Mexico.

The exact meaning of the work is difficult to document, due to the subconscious nature of the subject matter. However, I believe the symbolism is universal in nature and the viewer should feel free to draw their own meaning or conclusions from the work.

I was born in Los Angeles and have spent most of my life in the Bay Area. After graduating from Santa Clara University in 1981 with a degree in Biology, I began teaching myself oil painting. I have always been interested in the traditional materials and techniques of the old masters, from the use of white lead grounds on linen, to the application of thin transparent glazes to produce a realism required of the style.
