Bio/Artist Statement:
I began painting in my early years of college and decided to follow my interest. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in printmaking. I continued to paint on the side and participate in several shows while earning my MBA and raising a family.

Over the last ten years I have been living in Morgan Hill, California and while raising a family, I have been operating my art studio: Sheri’s Art Studio. I teach drawing and painting to children of all ages with an emphasis in watercolor, pastel, and pencil. Many of my students have participated in several art shows and have placed in the top three.

My earlier work focuses on black and white in lithography, etching, and silkscreen, and it has given way to a stronger enunciation of colors in acrylic on canvas. My love of flowers as the quiet and shy lovers of sun still persists. I am much more interested in the soul of the subject than its physical attributes. I believe that context and environment are always displayed in the movements of the soul and I try to represent the form so the inner-content flows without impediment. I singularize the content and speak of only one aspect, one idea. Whether it is the shy beauty of pansies, the sensual heat of a rose, or the cavalierly of a dancer – the subject is the focus of my work. The backgrounds are often secondary and less recognizable providing a high contrast.
