Lojart Gallery presents a special jewelry and painting exhibition featuring artists Paul and Nancy Rice. Paul creates handmade jewelry from all-natural sources including; semi-precious gems, stones and under-the-sea beads. His talent was revealed years ago while contemplating a valentine's gift for his wife, Nancy.
"In January of 2005 I was thinking about what to give my lovely wife Nancy for Valentine's Day. I had these old chunks of lacquer from the finishing stool in the spray booth from my Morton Eyre days in a box under my tool bench." Paul explains.
" I created a one of a kind heart pendant. I drilled it, epoxied a finding in the top center, added a chain and "Wallahhhh" I had created something for her and she loved it and cherishes it to this day. Well as they say, that was it! This out of the blue experience started me on the path to find something that I could create that was one of a kind."
Paul donates 10% of all sales to help in the fight against Breast Cancer, benefiting the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
A painter for over 25 yrs, Nancy Ann Rice brings experience and experimentation to her paintings. A web designer and art teacher, Nancy devotes her life to the creative process. Her latest series of work she calls "The Abstracted Landscape". These acrylic paintings on canvas and board use a unique process that allows paint to flow into a fantastic arrangement of color and shape that evoke memory of wooded landscapes and under water scenes. No two are alike, and no two can be duplicated.
Nancy explains her work: "Landscapes hold special appeal in my work. Living not far from the woods and the ocean for many years, I'm grateful I can easily be among the beauty of nature.
With population growth and urban squall, I see more high density housing being built, and wonder what beautiful area may soon be gone. I create landscapes to keep nature in mind for all of us."
Nancy encourages you to explore her works to discover hidden images and patterns. |
