It’s time for artist Angie Young to unveil her latest works depicting life in absurd colors and zany scenarios. An evening of fun, food, games, prizes and of course fabulous art await you at her upcoming exhibition mid-March at Lojart Gallery in Morgan Hill.
Quirky Stories In Whimsical Images Exhibition
Young began her art business customizing t-shirts with a humorous cartoon theme for individuals and organizations for almost a decade. Her designs were popular with all ages, in many cases her unique t-shirts sold out at conventions and people wanted more. She sold many brightly painted art deco gourds too. Over the years Young shifted gears from t-shirts to fine art paintings.
“After painting realism subjects and plein air landscapes I discovered that I actually prefer to tell stories like an animated movie rather than paint a representational piece that’s technically perfect but devoid of life.
“Telling stories is what I’m about. I like conveying pure emotional energy and movement in the subjects I draw or paint. What better way to express my love for humor, animation, storytelling and fine art than by combining it into a series of colorful off the wall paintings.”
Young is an award-winning artist; her works appeared in regional publications. Private collectors and public organizations own her artwork in the US and abroad.
The reception for Quirky Stories In Whimsical Images will be from 6 to 9 on Friday evening, March 14, 2008 at Lojart Gallery in downtown Morgan Hill.
